Something you have to do for welfare’s sake,
This has been a wonderful guidebook to me about online safety for my child. It’s not about breaking trust but checking on her welfare. The tips here were very helpful and the great thing is my daughter agrees that it’s something I have to do.

|Taught me to collaborate with my kids on online safety,
This book helped me form a blueprint for how I could monitor my 2 kids’ computer use which I then presented to them. They participated on the plan by agreeing and disagreeing on it. So we have a collaboration that they both cooperate with. For me, just that they know they are being monitored keeps them safe, they watch out what they’re into `coz mommy can see.

The book is very detailed, providing a specific guide on forming an internet safety plan. I like it because it pointed me out to an important thing: that it’s not doing the checking up behind his back but keeping upfront with him about why you need to do it and how you’re going to go about it. It’s about respecting his rights as a person—but a minor person who needs to be monitored just quite a bit yet.
